Family Law

We are dedicated family law solicitors and we provide assistance and representation in all areas including divorce, judicial separation, financial settlements, civil partnerships, custody, access, and domestic violence.

When difficulties arise in a relationship, there is often little time to prepare for the necessary decisions that need to be taken. However, it is essential to obtain legal advice as soon as possible in order for you to protect both your legal and financial position. Family law expertise requires specialist skills and we are expert negotiators, trained to deal with each client’s stressful situation in a sensitive, personal and practical way, having regard to the individual requirements which each case brings.

Our main goal is to provide you with the best advice to assist and resolve disputes where possible by negotiation, mediation and reconciliation. Unfortunately, these matters may require to be adjudicated in a court setting. In such instances, we shall provide you with the most appropriate advice on the course best suited to each unique situation.

We are experts in the following matters:

  • Divorce
  • Civil Partnership
  • Domestic Violence Injunctions
  • Guardianship, Custody and Access of Children

Divorce

We advise clients on the most cost effective and beneficial means of obtaining a divorce having regard to any dependent children, the family home and any other assets held by either party. Sorting out arrangements for children can be very difficult especially when you are going through a separation or divorce. However, it is very important that this sensitive issue is dealt with in a pragmatic and thoughtful way, given that the welfare of the children is the foremost consideration in the process. Our solicitors have an in-depth knowledge of the current legislation enabling us to provide the best advice which will deliver the best outcome to the family.

Civil partnerships

We advise clients on the dissolution of civil partnerships and the range of concerns that can arise through relationship breakdown. This can include financial settlements and issues regarding any children of the partnership.

Domestic violence injunctions

This includes non-molestation orders, safety orders, protection orders. We deal with each situation in a very sensitive and respectful manner taking into account the traumatic incident which our clients have experienced.

Guardianship, custody and access of children

For children born outside of marriage, only the mother is automatically recognised as the child’s guardian. Even if the father’s name is on the child’s birth certificate, this does not provide him with any guardianship rights in respect to his child. We can provide advice and assistance to individuals who are experiencing difficulties in this area and who are seeking to establish their rights in relation to the child.
